The Employment Preparation Certificate is a full-year certificate program that assists students with developmental disabilities in preparing for competitive employment and community living. It combines on-campus instruction with community-based work practicums.
This program is ideal for students 18 years of age or older, and who are graduates of previous participants of a vocational, integrated occupational or special education program. To be eligible for this program, students must be highly motivated to obtain employment, willing to accept the terms of the program and capable of using public transit independently. This program runs from September to August annually.

Through the community-based work practicums, you will work with an Employment Specialist who will provide assistance on the work site.
Employment Assistance
Employment Assistance is open to graduates of the Employment Preparation Certificate Program. Students will receive job placements and support services as well as strategies for self-directed job search for a 12 month period (Sept. 1 - Aug. 31).

Financial Assistance
Financial support may be available from the Foundational Learning Assistance. Please call the Transitional Vocational Program for details. To receive funding, proof of a developmental disability is required.
Transportation
Students must be capable of using public transit independently. We recommend that you book time with the Calgary Transit travel trainer immediately. Phone 403.537.7862 to book an appointment.
Employment opportunities
During the assessment process and through a variety of in-class assignments, students explore their values, interests and abilities. Students use this information to determine their top job choices. Program staff then assist students to find a job as close as possible to their interests and abilities, but job matches also depend on job availability and the economy.
