Microsoft Excel is one of the most popular spreadsheet programs for preparing financial statements and reports, and for organizing and analyzing large amounts of data.

Master the power of Microsoft Excel in our flexible courses taught by experienced instructors in PC computer labs on campus. Explore producing everything from basic financial statements to advanced statistical reports. Begin with the introductory course to build your confidence or enrol in an upper-level Excel class to learn how to use the most sophisticated features.

Build your confidence operating in the Excel environment with our introductory course. Learn the basics of an electronic spreadsheet, correct terminology, and mouse and keyboard movements. Explore data entry and how to apply formatting using a variety of methods.

In our higher level courses, learn multiple ways of using a spreadsheet as a database to organize, sort and filter data. Explore database functions and learn how to create pivot tables and charts, slicers and more. Share and link workbooks, customize charts and build skills in using tools for data analytics.

This program is intended for anyone who needs to manage, analyze, or visualize data, including beginners looking for immediate job skills, professionals aiming for advanced certifications, and students.

 

What type of career options are available if I complete this certificate?

There are a variety of careers that will benefit from having MS Excel skills, such as roles in finance, data analysis, administration, project management, education, data analysis, accounting, business analysis, etc.

Note: additional education and training may be required for some positions.

 

Do I have to take the courses in order?

No, each course is designed to stand alone, but we suggest that you take the courses in order of their levels.

 

How will I be graded in each course?

Each course has several graded assignments. These assignments vary per course; however, they are all designed to assess the outcomes of each course. These assessments include individual assignments that are completed in-class.

 

How many hours am I expected to work on each course?

You need to attend all in-person classes as scheduled.

 

Do I need to have MS Excel at home?

No, students will complete assignments during the scheduled classes.

 

How many courses can I take at a time?

You can take as many courses as your schedule will allow. There are no restrictions on the number of courses you can take at one time.

 

Will I get a job once I'm done the certificate?

While having a professional certificate will certainly put you in a favourable position when looking for employment, there are many factors consider for each individual that it would be impossible to pre-determine your employment success. Our graduate statistics have shown that a significant percentage of past students have experienced a measurable increase in salary, responsibility, and/or activity after completing our programs.

 

Will Mount Royal help me locate career opportunities?

No, Mount Royal does not have a system in place to assist students with career opportunities upon completion of our certificate. However, there are periodic job postings advertised on our website.
