The Mount Royal University Conservatory offers large and small music ensemble classes for musicians looking to perform and practice with peers. Groups are arranged by age and skill level, featuring different styles of music tailored to students' abilities and interests. Whether you're interested in chamber music workshops, flute and wind ensembles, jazz ensembles or guitar ensembles, there's a program to suit your needs. This is a great option for students who may not feel comfortable or interested in performing solo or are performing at a higher level than the musicians in their high-school programs.

Some ensemble programs require an audition before registration to ensure proper placement. For those seeking to refine their skills, we also offer advanced ensemble training. Please review the audition requirements by clicking into the course pages listed below.

 

Mount Royal Conservatory ensembles include:

Youth Ensembles

  • MRU Wind Ensemble (Grades 9 - 12)
  • MRU Chamber Flutes
  • Senior Guitar Ensemble (RCM Grade 4 required)
  • JazzYYC Youth Lab Band (Ages 14-20 years)

 

Adult Ensembles

  • Senior Guitar Ensemble (RCM Grade 4 required)
  • Adult Flute Chamber Music
