Course description

Students will form connections between the written music we read, the patterns we play on the guitar, and the sounds we hear. The course seeks to improve understanding and enjoyment of playing and listening to music. We will discuss major and minor scales, intervals, triads, dominant 7 chords, key relationships, and rhythm. Everything will be explained in standard notation and also on the fretboard. Examples will be drawn from standard classical guitar repertoire.
This course is geared towards classical guitarists but open to all guitarists. Students should be able to read music and find notes on the fretboard.
