Course description

From small talk to group discussions—speak with ease

Build your confidence and fluency in both academic and everyday conversations! This interactive course helps you express yourself clearly in one-on-one and group settings—from social and workplace conversations to classroom discussions, presentations and informal debates. Practice sharing opinions, asking and answering questions, and keeping conversations going, while improving your listening skills and using appropriate tone and language in real-life situations.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • participate confidently in both informal and formal conversations.
  • express opinions, agree and disagree politely, and ask and answer questions effectively.
  • use conversation strategies such as turn-taking, backchanneling, hedging, and delay tactics.
  • apply appropriate language, tone, and body language for a variety of social, academic, and workplace contexts.
  • demonstrate improved pronunciation, stress, intonation, and delivery skills for clearer, more natural speech.
  • build skills to plan and deliver effective presentations.
  • engage in one-on-one, small group, and large group discussions with increased fluency and confidence.
  • recognize and adapt to cultural norms and expectations in communication across diverse contexts.
