Course description

This course focuses on the business value of design, along with its key concepts and processes as these relate to creating products and services for the 21st Century. It enables the student to identify what design consists of, why it is important and how it is used to build successful products and services.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • explain the importance of design in creating successful products and services. 
  • determine what research methods are most appropriate for testing assumptions, and uncovering valuable user and business insights. 
  • formulate, prioritize and prototype hypotheses using repeatable design processes so that product teams can efficiently create user-centered products and services. 
  • evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various tools used by designers based on project needs. 
  • use frameworks to evaluate how well a design addresses the problems it was intended to.

Notes

Students must enrol in all four courses in the Product Management program at the same time.
