Course description

Become inspired by creative ideas and understand design principles and cultural traditions that may impact your event. Discover how an event planner carries a theme through the decor and overall event design. You will acquire design tips and tools, and learn how to work well with a designer.

Learner outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • identify basic design and decor principles and terminology as they relate to event planning.
  • relate the significance of integrating theme to an event and how to maximize these conceptual frameworks into visual realities.
  • analyze and conceive event themes based on the objectives of an event and /or its stakeholders. 
  • determine design and decor budgets. 
  • learn about various cultural traditions and norms.
