Course description

Introduction to ukulele will have students playing a song in one minute and one second! This course is focused on having fun while learning a wide variety of songs, rhythms, techniques and playing styles. Playing ukulele is very popular among a wide demographic as it features an easy introduction to music and it’s quick to advance to a higher skill level compared to other instruments.

The MRU ukulele program invites adults, including seniors, to join the group class. The cognitive benefits of playing music has been studied for years and the ukulele fits in amazingly well. Some concepts include “hum ‘n strum”, singing a lot of songs, understanding a wide variety of rhythms, learning chords, reading notation and TAB. All concepts will be introduced and practiced in a wide variety of music styles, all the while having fun.
